Weddings are a celebration of something new as well. Why not inject your event with some holiday and/or New Year’s excitement with these papier mache confetti balls!
Materials:
crepe paper, bowl, flour, water ,whisk
5″ round balloons
scissors
trinkets (beaded necklaces, fun-sized candy, noisemakers, confetti, etc.)
narrow-mouthed glasses, like juice or champagne glass
disposable plastic gloves (optional, but keeps your hands clean!)
glitter

Step 1:
Tear crepe paper into strips about 1″x4″ strips. Keep in mind that the narrower you tear these strips, the tougher they’ll be to work with.

Step 2:
Mix your papier mache paste to your liking. I used about 1 cup of flour per 2 cups of water. You can make large batches of the paste and it will keep for a day or two if you cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap when you’re not using it.
Step 3:
Blow up your balloons…and then deflate them. AND THEN RE-INFLATE THEM. This may seem absurd, but the 5″ balloons got bigger and rounder upon second inflation. Tie the end in a knot.

Step 4:
Saturate a strip of crepe paper with the paste. It shouldn’t be dry, but it shouldn’t be dripping all over the place either. Smooth it onto the balloon. Repeat until the balloon is totally covered, avoiding the knot and surrounding area.
Step 5:
Allow to dry overnight. You CAN apply more layers before leaving to dry, but I made these late at night and I was tired, so I left the one layer. I applied a second layer the next morning, then came home and moved on to the next steps.

Step 6:
When you think your papier mache is strong enough to stand up to the stress of transportation but light enough to tear open, snip the balloon close to the knot and release the air. The balloon will naturally separate from the papier mache shell; pluck it from the inside of the shell and discard.

Step 7:
Stuff the trinkets, candy and confetti into the shell. I used sealed fun-size candies so they wouldn’t be affected by further gluing, random glue flakes inside the shell, or go bad if made months ahead of time.

Step 8:
Cut 1″ slits into the shell from the opening, and use more papier mache strips to form a flat bottom. Dry overnight with flat bottom facing up.
Step 9:
Add metallic crepe paper bits, glitter or whatever else to the outside to snazz it up using more paste. Let it dry fully (overnight is preferable) before handling.

Very excited to be coming to you with this review. Lately within the past month I have been on a foundation hunt and had a list of different ones I wanted to try out. I am still working on the ones I have gotten and will be writing and reviewing each. There are also a few that I am still on the lookout for. In my last sephora haul I actually purchased two high end foundations that I had heard good things about and wanted to try. The one that I am going to talk about today is the Josie Maran matchmaker serum foundation. It of course is made with Argan Oil as all of the line’s products are. You basically have two choices when purchasing the foundation. You can either get the light to medium and the medium to tan. They are formulated to match your skins tone to give you wonderful coverage and a flawless finish. They are designed with Chameleon Pigment (that work to match your skin as soon as it is applied. The liquid comes out white and then matches your skin tone while nourishing it.  It is really cool and when applied with the proper brush, it can leave a gorgeous finish. I was a little hesitant at first, wondering if it might blend too light or even have too much pigment that would leave it darker on my skin. I honestly found that it is very true to its claim and is a really fabulous product. It doesn’t feel heavy or thick and has an amazing and buildable coverage. I see it starting as a tinted moisturizer feel, that then can become a medium coverage foundation.  Since I have combination skin with some dry areas, I love the feel of this serum on my skin. I also felt it to be pretty long lasting after I wore it for about ten hours. It didn’t oxidize or fade throughout the day. I have been a fan of this line for a while having tried a few items, but this was one that I can see myself using and repurchasing.

Newer chameleon pigment technology is far less expensivecostly than the original pigments making these finishes more affordable to consumers that could not previously afford these materials. While chameleon paints have not been widely used by the auto manufacturers, there has been some specialty applications on vehicles like the Ford Mustang for instance. The lack of interest from the auto makers is thought to be a result of the high cost of the technology and the bulk of car owners opting for less flashy colors. While it was once thought this technology was just a passing fad, it has shown to have staying power in the specialty coatings and ink market. With newer colors and lower cost products we can expect to enjoy these unique colors for a long time.

Glitter glue and glittered her wings

Using a foam dot which I had cut in half, I adhered it to the back of the bee body and then adhered that piece over the wings. I found my KindyGlitz ‘Crystalina’ glitter glue and glittered her wings to give her a pretty little sparkle.

Starting off with another simple card from me using the December KOTM Stamp Set ‘Just Be You’ which you can purchase from the beautiful Colleen at Craft-A-Lot. This stamp set has been one of my favourites to date. I think I have used nearly every stamp in the set and I am sure you will get a lot of use out of it too!

Using one of the ‘Chanteuse’ Journal Tags from Kaisercraft, I stamped the ‘Just Be You’ sentiment from the December 2010 KOTM Stamp Set in ‘Port Wine’ dye ink by Whisper onto the top left side of it. Looking at it now, I probably should have used a darker ink but I still like the subtleness of it. Using a ‘Rose’ Zig memory writer pen, I added a few dots around the journal tag just to give it a little more interest.

 Before I added the journal tag, I drew lines around 3 of the edges. You don’t need to do this. I just thought it needed to be ‘tied’ in a little more. When that was done, I put a heap of 3D foam on the back of the tag and then adhered it to the front. The position of this is totally up to you. To finish of the card, I used a couple of tiny pink rhinestones on the Bee’s antennae.

As with all of my cards, you can sustitute what I have used with what you have available. That’s it for this card. I hope you enjoyed!!
